Scholarships and Awards
Youth Beef Team Scholarship
Up to three $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to the top individuals who earn the most points in the scholarship contest. An additional $500 will be awarded to any $2,000 scholarship winner who has completed the Master of Beef Advocacy (MBA) course before the judging of the scholarship contest.
All applicants for the Youth Beef Team scholarships must have received training as an Iowa Cattlemen’s Foundation Youth Beef Team member or served as a county Beef Queen, Princess, or Ambassador. High school seniors planning to graduate in spring 2025 are eligible to apply. You must be present to win.
Iowa Cattlemen's Foundation Extravaganza
The Beef Scholarship Extravaganza is one of the most challenging and rewarding youth cattle competitions in the nation. Young people who participate in this event reap the benefits of their preparation long after the competition is over.
The contest is open to high school juniors and seniors who want to test their knowledge of the beef industry and beef cattle management issues.
Maynard Jayne Scholarship
Maynard Jayne, a member of the Iowa Cattlemen's Association Hall of Fame, was a former lobbyist for the Iowa Cattlemen's Association. Following his death in 2016, a scholarship endowment was set up in his honor through the Iowa Cattlemen's Foundation. The endowment will provide one $2,000 scholarship annually. "Jayne Scholars" must be full-time students at an accredited not-for-profit college or university in the state of Iowa, and must demonstrate financial need.
Iowa Foundation Heifer Program
The Iowa Foundation Heifer Program is a joint effort between the Iowa Beef Breeds Council and Iowa Cattlemen's Foundation to promote seedstock herd development and help youth become more involved in the cattle industry. The award winner will receive three registered bred heifers of the breed of their choice.
Iowa Beef Heifer Award
All 4-H, FFA, and junior association members who own and exhibit a market beef or breeding heifer at the Iowa State Fair are eligible to enter. The winner of each breed division will receive a certificate for the purchase of a registered female sponsored by the Iowa State Fair and the respective state breed association.
